Now that Riley's mastered the art of crawling, she's going places that frankly I can't follow.
We're mathematicians. We're parents.
The rest is left as an exercise to the reader.

Favorites
Here are some of my more recent photos:
Sometimes Riley gets this weird looking smile on her face. We think she is grinding her teeth. Although it's like nails on a chalkboard to us, we do get some funny photos out of it.

Cam and I had to hide the dog in the picture since Riley was so afraid of it (you may remember him from the Christmas photos). Well, I was changing her crib sheet and had pulled the crib out. Riley somehow crawled to the back side of the crib and found the dog. Luckily, she didn't seem that scared anymore (although still slightly wary), and sat and played with the dog for about 15 minutes.

Riley has crazy hair when she wakes up! Honestly, Cam and I did not touch her hair one bit. It was like that when she woke up!

Riley's reaction to eating her apricot. The best part was that after each wincing bite, she happily took another!

As evidenced by other photos and videos, Riley loves to eat! She looks so happy here with her 'sweet potato and black bean' hash. We had given Riley a bowlful, and she wanted more. So, we just let her go at the stash I had in the tupperware. She was thrilled!

Standing tall
Every time I see this video I think two things. One, just how big Riley has gotten. Two, and more importantly, just how darn cute she is, especially when she "talks." Do you think the latter will be true in a few years?

The super-duper cuteness of waking up
As she gets older, her nap wakeups get cuter and cuter, don't you think?

It's award time
And the presidential physical fitness award goes to Riley for outstanding strength in pull-ups. It's important to note that she isn't even 7 months old yet. As quoted from "Maternal & Child Health Nursing" by Adele Pillitteri (2006):
"A 9-month-old child can stand holding onto a coffee table if he or she is placed in that position. Some 9-month-old children can pull up to that position. Ten-month-old children can pull themselves into a standing position by holding onto the side of a playpen or a low table, but they cannot let themselves down again as of yet" (p. 831).
So, that means that Riley beat out babies about 1 1/2 times her age!

A true maverick
Here's our darling girl, unphased by what current fashion dictates. Yep, she's going to be a trendsetter this one.

Who needs hands?
Apparently Riley can make do by just flinging her head side to side. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Happy 5 months!
In case you didn't notice the ticker to the right, today is Riley's 5 month birthday!!! Here she is in her crib (bought with love by Grams and Grandpa K.) wearing her first pair of shoes and showing her Canadian roots. You should know that this shoes are truly Canadian, as they were bought just north of the border when Granny and Grandpa M. were visiting Auntie Barb. Oh, Canada!
